  1. Following 42 reports of fires, 3 reports of minor burns, and 1 giant headache for Hummer owners, GM announced a recall of nearly Hummer 200,000 vehicles.

    Although no accidents have been blamed on the problem, three people have been burned from fires that started with overheating modules. The defective module controls the speed of the heating and air conditioning blower motor, but the module can overheat when the blower motor is used for long periods of time.

  2. Doug DeMuro of Jalopnik.com bought a Hummer, and while it's "a ton of fun to drive" he also says it "the most unreliable piece of crap I've ever owned."

    Two specific issues he talks about 1) the infamous casting flaw in the 6.5-liter turbodiesel V8 and 2) a leaky central tire inflation system. The whole article is sort of like the Hummer itself – lots of fun and pretty crappy at the same time.…
